👋 Announcements — Reflecting On What We Learned
Welcome to a brand new week! This week we will look back to the past content that we’ve talked about, take a glance at more practical uses of DALLE 2, and how to create pixel-perfect fonts on Figma in under 2 minutes. 😇
Along with that, we are excited to announce that UXA is having its annual ✨internship panel✨ TODAY (9/26) from 5 - 6:30pm!
Interested in product management, UX design, and UX research but unsure where to start and who to talk to? Come to our internship panel and talk with panelists who interned at Google, HP, Microsoft, and many more! 👀
We will talk about the application and interview process via a general Q&A and hold breakout chat sessions with the panelists to glance at what life is like interning at different companies and know about their experiences and learnings! This would serve as a great chance to peak into the UX industry and get you ready for the recruiting season right around the corner! 💪
Also, we are happy to welcome Anthony Wu, Clarise Liu, and Elizabeth Wang onboard UXA’s Professional Programming unit! They will be working together with our VPs of Professional Programming, Nicole and Grace, to bring more events and opportunities that provide professional insights and knowledge for the community! ✨
☘️ Industry — How Jacob Martin Used DALL·E 2 to Generate The Logo for OctoSQL
DALL·E 2 has exploded the web in the past few months. However, as the hype behind AI-generated art fades, people realized that DALL·E 2, just like any other tool, requires experience and techniques to fully explore its potential. This article talks about a practical usage of DALLE-2, as the blog author tried different text prompts to generate a logo for his product. Let’s get a glance at how text prompt would change AI’s perception of generated content from this week’s article. 🧐
🌾 Skill — Pixel Perfect Font
As a designer, developer, researcher, or writer, what’s your go-to size in pixel? 12pt? 16pt? 20pt? What if someone tells you that you’ve been wrong all the time, and instead, you should start using 12.35px, 16.74px, or 20.88px?
This Twitter thread might provide some insights, explaining in detail why people use fraction font sizes, and how to do it yourself in Figma! 😊
